We do not regularly accept unsolicited manuscripts, but queries are welcome.

The biannual NEW POETRY AND FICTION FROM THE MIDWEST anthologies bring more visibility to the flourishing crop of Midwestern writers who consistently produce work that is innovative, engaging, finely crafted, and strong in voice, New American Press releases a new volume of recently published work from the Midwest each year.

The NEW AMERICAN FICTION PRIZE is awarded each year to a full-length fiction manuscript, such as a story collection, novel, novella(s), or something that blends forms, like a novel in verse. The winner receives $1,500 and a book contract, as well as 25 author's copies and promotional support. The submission period is usually February 15 - June 15.

The NEW AMERICAN POETRY PRIZE is awarded each year to a full-length collection of poetry. The winner receives $1,500 and a book contract, as well as 25 author's copies and promotional support. The submission period is usually September 15 - January 15.
